  3. INTRODUCTION • The server allows you to terminate as many accounts at once using the “Terminate Accounts” Interface. • However, it must be kept in mind that once you voluntarily delete the account, the system will permanently remove all the files from the server. • In addition, you will not be able to reverse the process of account deletion. • So, the backup of account must either be removed manually or must be reallocated to a new server. This prevents account collision. • User has the option to keep the DNS Zone of the account safe even after deleting or terminating the account.

  4. Ways to remove the Account • The server allows you to remove, terminate, or delete the account in two ways: • Using the WHM interface or • Using command line • It is recommended to use the first method only. • The second method contains lot of technical proficiency, so it is advisable to seek the assistance of your hosting provider or developer. • Some points to be Noted: • You should keep in mind that the account termination or deletion action cannot be reversed. • The data from that account is permanently deleted from the server by the system. • So you are required to be very much cautious while deleting the account.

  5. Steps for removing Account using WHM Interface • Terminating or removing account using WHM interface is a few step process such as: • Log in as root into WHM • Navigate to the following location address: Home>>Account Functions>>Terminate • You can find all the list of WHM or cPanel accounts on the Terminate Accounts page. • However, you have the option to filter the list by typing in the keywords in the Search box related to your account. • Select the account or accounts you wish to remove or delete. • After selecting the particular account you wish to remove, click on ‘Remove’ button • The system will then ask you to verify the account you wish to remove and click on ‘Yes remove this account button’ • Thus, your account is successfully removed. Note: You can delete or terminate one or multiple accounts from the server by following the same above steps

  6. DNS Zone • DNS is divided into different zones. • These zones distinguishes between distinct managed areas of the DNS namespace. • Thus, a DNS zone is a subset of the DNS namespace that is managed by a single organization or administrator. • Moreover, a DNS zone begins with a domain and can extend down into subdomains, allowing multiple subdomains to be managed by single entity. • However, a zone file is a plain text file stored in a DNS server • It contains an actual representation of the zone as well as all the records for each domain within the zone.

  7. Why is it beneficial to keep the DNS Zone • Despite terminating your account, you can keep the zone file for your domain on the DNS server • It is beneficial and advisable to keep the DNS zone file safe, if you want to recreate the domain on the same server or to a different server but on the same DNS cluster. • However you can keep the DNS zone safe of your account, which you wish to terminate or delete, by selecting the associated checkbox in the ‘Keep DNS zone’ column.
