Introduction • A reseller is allowed by the cPanel & WHM interface to share a single IP address with its accounts. It is also allowed for the system to share a single IP address with multiple resellers. Many hosting providers want to let each reseller use an IP address of its own to share with accounts. This proves to be useful in the situation when poor reputation or spam listing of the IP address of a reseller is caused by a customer. In this situation, the hosting provider can isolate the other resellers as well as IP addresses from such a customer. • To digress, web hosting providers not only provide the service of web hosting but also VPS (Virtual Private Servers). VPS can be Windows Managed VPS, Linux Managed VPS, Windows Self-managed VPS, and Linux Self-managed VPS. • Let us now explore how to share multiple IP addresses with cPanel & WHM.
Log In • The first step is to log in to WHM. This needs to be done as the root user. • It needs to be mentioned that the entire process is being described here step by step. If accounts exist on your server, you can skip those steps that seem unnecessary.
Add IP Addresses • Add the IP addresses to the server by navigating to Add a New IP Address interface in WHM. WHM >> Home >> IP Functions >> Add a New IP Address.

Reserve the IP Addresses Follow the below-mentioned steps to reserve the IP addresses. • Navigate to the Reserved IP Address Editor interface of WHM. WHM >> Home >> IP Functions >> Reserved IP Address Editor • Reserve the previously added addresses. This prevents the system administrator from dedicating these to a particular user. • Enter those resellers’ names that will own each IP address. These need to be entered in the appropriate text boxes, Notes.
Rebuild the IP Address Pool • Rebuild the IP address pool by navigating to the Rebuild the IP Address Pool interface in WHM. WHM >> Home >> IP Functions >> Rebuild the IP Pool
Create the Reseller Accounts • Create an account with reseller privileges by navigating to the Create a New Account interface in WHM. WHM >> Home >> Account Functions >> Create a New Account • Repeat this process for creating additional reseller accounts.
Create Packages for Resellers • Create the necessary packages for the resellers’ use by navigating to the Add a Package interface in WHM. WHM >> Home >> Packages >> Add a Package
Configure the Resellers • Follow the below-mentioned steps to configure the resellers: • Navigate to the Edit Reseller Nameservers & Privileges interface in WHM. WHM >> Home >> Resellers >> Edit Reseller Nameservers & Privileges • Select the reseller that needs to be edited. • Click Submit. • Select the appropriate packages for the reseller. • In the situation where resellers own accounts, and all that is needed is to change these accounts to the new shared IP addresses, then Everything - All Features to the reseller has to be selected. This action enables reseller accounts to have full root-level access. • If the resellers are not supposed to change their own accounts, then the Change Multiple Sites’ IP Addresses interface in WHM needs to be used to change the IP addresses. WHM >> Home >> IP Functions >> Change Multiple Sites’ IP Addresses • This process needs to be coordinated with the resellers for scheduling any necessary change to the DNS entries as well as downtime for the domains of their clients. • Click Save All Settings. • This process has to be repeated for each reseller.
Change the IP Shared Addresses of the Resellers The steps to be followed for changing the IP shared addresses of the resellers are mentioned below: • Navigate to the Manage Reseller’s Shared IP interface in WHM. WHM >> Home >> Resellers >> Manage Reseller’s Shared IP • Select the reseller that needs to be edited. • Click Submit. • Select the shared IP address for the reseller’s use. • Click Save. • This process has to be repeated for each reseller.
