Post High School Outcomes • Indicator 14 is new this year • Wisconsin has collected outcomes for past 6 years • Wisconsin will collect data from districts based on a six-year cycle that is aligned with other data collection activities • App. 1200 students and a Milwaukee sample included annually
Post High School Project Funding • Support from WDPI • Support financially and in scope • Post high outcomes project is based on discretionary funding from the WDPI to CESA 11 • The project started with 25 days and a $20,000 budget • The current budget is approximately $147,000 • The website cost -approx $40,000 over three years
Support • Funds .50 FTE Director (130 days) • .35 (95 days) FTE Program Assistant web development, interviewing • Program Assistant • “Help Desk” • Maintains link between project director, web designer, districts, DPI staff and others • Development and formatting of materials • Website structure/pages editing and navigation
Post High School Outcomes Website • WPHSOS website is a tool developed to assist LEAs with the data collection and reporting requirements of Indicator 14 • Ensures consistency in data collection and reporting in a time-efficient, cost-effective manner • During required survey years, St. Norbert College Survey Center calls former students and conducts the telephone interviews at no costto districts
Post High School Outcomes Website • The post high website has two purposes • 1. Required for Indicator 14 • During monitoring cycle year • One year after monitoring • 2. Elective to determine local outcomes and monitor improvement efforts. • Can by used by any district any year • Use for general education students as well
Post High School Outcomes Survey • Includes a 7 – 10 minute telephone interview with former students • Assesses former students’ participation in • independent living • postsecondary education • employment • high school employment & IEP planning • Has 3 open-ended questions
Post High School Outcomes Survey • All survey instruments and instructions are provided on the outcomes website • WDPI collects the Indicator 14 data directly from the outcomes website • Additional data collection tools and outcomes improvement resources will be available on the outcomes website
Post High School Outcomes Survey • Responses may be viewed by gender, ethnicity, disability and exit type • Provides an auto-fill summary report as well as an optional, in-depth report template • Can be used by any LEA, any year and over multiple years • Six years of data will be maintained on the website
Post High School Outcomes Survey • Districts are encouraged to collect baseline data, identify deficits, locate and implement improvement strategies and use the outcomes website to support improved outcomes for youth • Technical assistance is provided in pre-data collection, data collection, and data use
Technical Assistance Collaboration with other statewide projects and groups leads to improved outcomes.
Technical Assistance • Information on Indicator 14 is provided to districts through state and regional meetings, and through the WDPI website • Technical assistance is provided to districts through information dissemination and direct support in Indicator 14 data collection, reporting, and interpretation • We try to be visible and helpful!
