PFAD Updates Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts Conference 2008 PA Coalition Against Domestic Violence
Out of State Orders • Plaintiff not required to register out of state protection orders in Pennsylvania • All protection orders issued in any U.S. court are enforceable in all States • Out of state orders CANNOT be entered into PFAD • Fax copy of order to PA State Police and local law enforcement if plaintiff requests copies be distributed
Emergency PFAs • Issued by a Magisterial District Judge -- not Common Pleas Court Judge • Valid for 24 hours or until Court is available • Emergency PFAs CANNOT be entered into PFAD -- even if they are used to create a temporary order • PFAD cases begin with petition or temporary order
Electronic Data Transfer • Daily checks to review status of all information transferred electronically • Via email message • Manage datasheets screen • Call Tech Support with questions or problems
Project Passport Update • Allow PA orders to be easily recognizable in PA and in other states • Improve enforcement • New rules were published for comment • Now before the PA Supreme Court for review and approval • Implementation period?
