FERC Order 845: Generator Interconnection Reforms Clarifications to Section 5.2 – Option to Build
Order 845: Generator Interconnection Reforms • Order 845 (Issued April 2018) • Supports that interconnection reforms are necessary to facilitate new entry into the market • Requires 10 specific reforms to LGIA/LGIP • One reform provides Customers with a unilateral right to build necessary interconnection facilities and standalone network upgrades • Transmission Owner Experience with Option to Build • National Grid and other Transmission Owners have relevant experience, in New York, of Interconnection Customers building and transferring interconnection facilities • This process has benefited from a clearer identification of the roles, responsibilities, and requirements between Interconnection Customers and Transmission Owners • We are seeking to share that experience with the ISO and stakeholders, and suggest enhancements to the current pro-forma agreement • Enhancements are intended to add clarity and increase the effectiveness of the Customer build process
