  1. New Student Checklist for Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

  2. Step One • For the online application • click on the scorpion To visit Apply Texas click the Star • Apply for Admissions • Submit a completed Undergraduate Admissions Application to the Office of Admissions. You can apply online or go to Apply Texas.

  3. Step Two • Transcripts • You will need to submit an official high school or GED certificate. • Transcript(s) from previously attended college(s) or universities will also be needed.

  4. Step Three • Apply for Financial Aid • Apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov • UTB/TSC School code: 030646 • The office of Financial Aid will then email you regarding any additional forms they may require. Office of Financial Aid • www.utb.edu/em/fa/Pages/FinancialAidHomePage.aspx

  5. Step Four • Register with Disability Services • You need to meet with the Disability Services counselor, Steve Wilder, to discuss services needed while attending UTB/TSC. • You can find him by visiting the Camille Lightner Building Rm#101 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (While walk-ins are accepted, appointments are preferred.) • For more information call: 956-882-7374 or visit www.utb.edu/sa/ability/Pages/default.aspx

Step Five • Register with Interpreting Services • If one of the services you will be utilizing consists of sign language interpretation go to Camille Lightner #106 to register for services. • You will need to meet with the Interpreter Coordinator, Rose Landa (by appointment only). • For more information call: 956-882-7375 or visithttp://www.utb.edu/sa/ability/interpreting/Pages/Welcome.aspx

  7. Step Six • Apply for Certificate of Deafness • Fill out application and mail to P.O. Box 12904 Austin, Texas 78711 Click on the image below to view and print the Certificate of Deafness application:

Step Seven Click here for the Testing Office • Take an Admissions Test • First-time freshman must take an approved TSI assessment test such as the COMPASS or THEA, or other state-approved assessment – prior to enrolling unless exempt. • Some students may need to take the EPT or English Placement Test. • For more information contact the Testing Office (956) 882-8875, Tandy Hall 216

  9. Step Eight Click here for more information • Meet with an Academic Advisor • An advisor will help you choose classes related to your degree plan. • Visit the Academic Advising Center at the Camille Lightner Center
