Discussion Question 1 • This sections begins with a proverb that sets the tone for rest of this chapter. How would you describe this tone? What exactly does verse 1 mean?
Discussion Question 2 • What does Solomon mean when he states that “No one is established by wickedness?” Do you agree with this statement?
Discussion Question 3 • “An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones.” Explain this proverb. Does it work the other way around?
Discussion Question 4 • How do verses 5-7 describe the intensification of differences between the path of the righteous and that of the wicked?
Discussion Question 5 • Explain the meaning of verse 10. What does it mean to have “regard for the life” of an animal? Do human beings have this regard today?
Discussion Question 6 • “Whoever is wicked covets the spoil of evildoers, but the root of the righteous bears fruit.” What distinction is made in this proverb and why is it important?
Discussion Question 7 • In verse 14 we read that “the work of a man’s hand comes back to him.” Explain why this can be either a good thing or a bad thing depending on the situation.
