PowerPoint Chapter 2 • Today, we will create a pptx presentation as in Chapter 2 of the MS Office 2007 book • Follow the directions on pages PPT 86 – 126 • 3 pictures you need in the G-drive folder (this week’s Word doc)

What’s PowerPoint? • PowerPoint is a Microsoft presentation graphics package/software. • A presentation is made up of a series of slides. • Each slide can include any pictures, Excel tables/Graphs, texts, sound, etc.
Tips for presentations • Graphics are good • 1 graph per slide is reasonable • Should be related to the topic presented • Limit material in slides • Summarize main points • Know your time limits • Limit Distractions • Limit animations • No sound! 6
Tips for presentations • Minimum 24pt. font size • Consistent font types • Friendly appearance • Appealing font color • Contrast (font vs. background) • How to move in and out of bullet points? • Tab to move in (promote paragraph) • Shift Tab to move out (demote paragraph) 7
PPT Views • PPT Views buttons located in the bottom-right hand corner of any slide • Normal View button: Also you can switch between outlines view and slides view by click the tab in the top-right corner of any slide. • Slide Sorter View button: Slides can easily be ordered and sorted in this view. • Slide Show button: You can show the presentation by clicking this button or press F5 key.
Design Tips • Use simple slide transitions. • Too many different transitions will distract your audience from the subject of the presentation. • Avoid cluttering the slides with too much text or graphics. • Keep text simple and easy to read • 7 x 7 rule • Max: 7 lines tall by 7 words wide

Slide Animation • You can apply slide animation to each slide or all slides by clicking: • Animation on the Ribbonor Custom Animation
Slide Transitions • Select Animations Transition to This Slide • From the Live Gallery Preview, choose a transition from the list and notice the preview after the transition is selected. • Select a speed for the transition as well. • Apply To All – gives you a consistent in transitions Speed
How to set the custom animation • Click on Custom Animation under the Animations tab • Choose an object in the slide and add the ‘Effect’.
Today’s Hand-in • Office Button • Click on “Print” • Choose “Hand outs” with four slides • Make SURE you place a header • Add your full name and DIS# in a header • Insert Header & Footer Notes & Handout • Your full name • Disc. 6XX (your discussion please)
