    2. Warm-up 9/14/2011 What mood are you in this afternoon? Why are you in the mood that you’re in. Give me details that help describe why you’re in such a mood. Details such as how much rest you got, if you ate breakfast, how your other classes went, etc.

    3. Mood and Imagery To create a setting that stays with you long after a story ends, a writer paints pictures with words. With the right choice of details and language, a writer can transport you to any scene and affect how you feel about the story.

    4. Imagery Imagery - Consists of vivid descriptions that recreate sensory experiences for readers Sensory Language – words and phrases that appeal to the senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch – to help you visualize a scene.

    5. Mood Imagery and setting are used to create mood. Mood – atmosphere of the story; whether it’s lighthearted, hopeful or mysterious, a story’s mood can affect your emotional reaction to the characters or events.
