  1. AB 2176 • Increase Large Venues and Events: • Waste reduction • Reuse • Recycling • Buy-Recycled

  2. Definitions • “Large Event” - charges admission and has an average of 2,000 attendees per day of event • “Large Venue” - annual average of 2,000 attendees and employees on site per day of operation

  3. Venues and Events: • Develop a waste reduction plan and timeline • Implement planned programs and actions • Report their progress annually to their local government

  4. Local Governments: • Provide information to venues and events on how to reduce waste • Report v/e progress to the CIWMB via existing AB 939 annual process • May not issue a development permit unless it ensures adequate space for recyclables collection/loading

  5. CIWMB: • Model local v/e recycling ordinance • Training materials for v/e managers /local officials on Web site • Modify AB 939 Annual Report forms • If 75% of covered v/e do not have programs in 2008, CIWMB must recommend actions to Legislature
