OBJECTIVE Shorten flow-time of Pre-Blast Work in order to increase capacity and flexibility during a dry-docking availability.
TOTAL SAVINGS • Total flow time reduced by 0.4 days = 9. 6 hours/MBT/refit • 2 MBTs prepped for blasting per refit = 19.2 hours/refit • Average 10 refits per year = 192 hours/year • Total Annual Savings = 8 calendar days/year

ACHIEVEMENTS • Identified Bottlenecks – Rip Out/Stage • Created Visual Status Tracking Board to Manage Process • Better understanding of all trades functions in getting tank ready for blast
ACTION PLAN • Propose using a 3 shift tank access schedule • Propose establishing a Ship’s Force Production Officer position for each boat to further reduce flow time • Resolve gas free training issues and certify additional Gas-Free technicians • Look for alternative sources for fire/tank watches • Establish a Dedicated Tank Coordinator
