  2. Rosa Parks started the bus boycott in Alabamabecause she went to jail for not giving up her seat to a white man on the bus. Rosa Parks

  3. Nelson Mandela fought against segregation but he was arrested for doing that. Later he became the President of South Africa. Nelson Mandela

  4. Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the USA. Abraham Lincoln didn’t want slavery so he fought against it and that started the civil war. Abraham Lincoln

  5. Oliver Brown started Brown vs. Board of education that made segregation illegal in schools. Oliver Brown

  6. Harriet Tubman led slaves to freedom using the underground railroad. Harriet Tubman

  7. Pee Wee Reese put his arm around Jackie Robinson when the crowd was booing him. He did that because he didn’t care what color his skin was. Pee Wee Reese

  8. Martin Luther King Jr. fought for rights even though people disagreed that didn’t stop him. He said that he had a dream. Martin Luther King Jr.

  9. Ruby Bridges was the first African American child to go to an all white school. That helped other African American children go to white schools Ruby Bridges
