Mechatronics@Mearns Mearns Academy’s Young Engineers Club Speakers: Becca Petrie and Campbell Anderson
Who are we? • A Club with less than one year’s experience but came 4th in a national competition • A group of pupils from S2-S6 working towards a common goal
What are we doing? • A Remotely Operated Vehicle for use underwater to perform tasks • A Rampaging Chariot to entice younger students into the Young Engineers Club
Why do we do it? • Its fun • The competitions are competitive and exciting • New and old friendships are strengthened • The process of design, implementation and testing is used in the industry so it is good experience for later life
How has Young Engineers Helped Us? • This club has taught us how to do skills that could be put to use in later life, both for engineering and transferable • Wood work, Soldering and Control Electronics. • Teamwork, Budgeting, and Time Management.
