More than any youth activity, Scouting benefits Posts with their service projects around the Post and a high potential to become future members. Posts can enjoy help with patriotic events, Flag placement, Buddy Poppy sales, general clean-up and repair around the Post. Many Scouts join the military and become eligible for membership and, because of their relationship with the VFW are pre-disposed to become members. National has Re-establish a third–place $1,000 scholarship for Scout of the Year. The visibility and benefits of Scouting will be increased raising it to become a greater priority within the VFW, enhancing Posts and fostering relationships that result in more members.
