  2. Marlowe’s Birth • Was baptized at the church of St. George the Martyr, Canterbury Saturday 26 February, 1564 • Exact date of birth is unknown. • Second of nine children. • Oldest sister died, leaving him the oldest child. • Born in the year as William Shakespeare(1564). Christopher Marlowe

Education • Gained a scholarship to King’s School • Boys were taught to write poetry in Latin and perform plays in Latin and Greek. • They were required to speak only in Latin even when they were playing. • At the age of sixteen and a half, he was awarded another scholarship to Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
