  3. A. Shelby-prospect of losing everything he owns; The Shelbys-good slaveholders; Necessity of selling two slaves: Uncle Tom and young Harry; Slave trader, Haley, buys both of them; Eliza, Harry’s mother, overhears the conversation;

  4. Eliza and George-appalled by Shelby’s plan of selling Harry; Emily Shelby had promised not to sell their son; George runs away from his master, as well as Eliza and Harry;

  5. Locker, the slave catcher, pursues Eliza and George; Catches up with them and put up a fight; George shoots Locker in the side Locker is cured in a nearby mission; George and Eliza are free to go to Canada;

  6. Tom accepts being sold; He feels sorry for abandoning his family; He is bought by a good slave owner, travelling in the same ship as Tom: Augustine St. Clare;

  7. Uncle Tom befriends Eva, St. Clare’s daughter; He saved her after she had fallen in a river; St. Clare buys Tom and Topsy, abused by them master They spend happy moments together;

  8. Eva falls ill and dies; Her death inspires her family to fight the injustice of slavery; St. Clare dies soon after Marie St. Clare sells Tom to a bad slaveholder

  9. Uncle Tom is treated very bad; He does not approve beating a slave woman: Lucy He preaches God’s Will among the other slaves; Finally, he is severely beaten and dies; George Shelby finds and buries him; He is an example of morality for everyone;
