  9. Watch DVD clip again. Spot the good things Jamie does.

  10. Try Card Activity 1 again. Put the cards picture side up. Can you tell the good things readers do. Check you are right.

The Sheriff of Nottingham was a bad man. He lived in a big castle. He was always trying to catch Robin Hood. The Sheriff of Nottingham was helped by another bad man called Guy of Gisbourne. But Robin was too clever to be caught.

  15. Jamie is a really good reader but he pretends to make some mistakes and not notice them so you can practice deciding how to help. The DVD will stop in some places…get ready to think… what would you say or do? Watch the clip again

  17. We can use “Awesome Things to Say and Do”, to help our younger partners when they make a mistake but don’t notice. Here’s how it works …..

  19. Awesome Things to Say and Do! Your partner makes a mistake but doesn’t notice… Is it a very hard or unusual word? e.g giant special avalanche Wait until the end of the sentence. Tell your partner the word and what it means

  23. We don’t say it like that Floppy runned fast! Your partner reads You said ‘Floppy runned fast’. We say ‘Floppy ran fast.’ Have another go! You say

  24. Try Card Activity 2 with a partner. Place the cards in order 1-4. Get your Awesome Things to Say and Do card. What would you say to help Jamie? Check on the back of the card.

  27. Your partner hesitates or gets stuck In DVD Clip 3 Jamie is reading this story: Cinderella lived with her three wicked sisters. She was very unhappy because her sisters made her do all the jobs in the house. From morning till night, Cinderella had to wash the windows, sweep the floor, feed the hamster and clean out its cage. The wicked sisters were nasty to Cinderella. They made her sleep in the cellar. Cinderella had to run up the stairs when the sisters called.

  28. Now here’s how Jamie reads it. He pretends to hesitate, get stuck or get a word wrong where you see ***.

  29. Cinderella lived with her three wI-ked /wicked *** sisters. She was very unhappy because her sisters made her do all the jobs in the house. From morning till nit / night, *** Cinderella had to wash the windows, sweep the floor, feed the hamster and clean out It’s ?/ cage. *** The wicked sisters were nasty to Cinderella.
