Injury Rates (Serious Injury) The injury rates are considered low as compared to the other countries’ data.
Sports Injuries • 37.7% of 260 cases of injuries were contact sports, in particular soccer and basketball. • 66.9% of injuries were fractures. • 53.8% of injuries were caused by trips/falls. • 11 cases were at the school fitness corners when students played in their own time. 7 cases were related to monkey bars.
Other Injuries • Building & Environment Related Injuries: 104 cases (83.2%) were due to trips/falls, of which 32 cases occurred at staircases • 8 injuries in road accident. 5 were from secondary and 3 were from primary. • 5 injuries in special rooms, all were in secondary schools – 3 of which occurred in D&T studio and 2 in science lab.
