Background • Tier 1 consumer facing companies are under increasing ‘pressure’ to be able to present their sustainability credentials. This includes impact on supply chains that are often involved, most of which reach back into the process sector. • likely result - SMEs and others will have to accurately present their efficiency credentials as well as their carbon consumption. • DEELOCSI offers 3 distinct areas of support: • Help companies understand policy drivers, awareness of and access to, both novel and renewable feed-stocks. • Help and assistance in measuring and presenting sustainability data • Detailed practical implementation programme for some SME’s engaged in the project allowing them to demonstrate resource and energy efficiency improvement including carbon footprint certified to an industry standard by the end of the programme. • Will build competency in the regions industry which will be of significance to its economic development for many years to come.
Criteria for Eligibility Must be a SME Company Based in North East of England Has an Annual Turnover of less than €50 million In last 3 years not received more than €200,000 in State Aid Show a willingness and commitment to increasing green credentials Take part in an Evaluation Process at completion of project
DEELOCSI Update • Engagement with SMEs commenced October 2012 • Launch took Place December 2012 • Target by April 2015 is 120 SMEs Engaged • To date 37 SMEs engaged and assisted (Target 20 for FY1) • 34 SMEs Assisted with improved performance (Target 18 for FY1) • 22 SMEs Assisted with environmental management (Target 16 for FY1) • Workshop on Policy Drivers, Novel Feed-stocks etc held January 2013 • Accreditation Process for 30 SMEs is On-going
