Mannerism Mannerism movement emerged and ended the Renaissance in 1520 Movement caused by religious and political changes in society (depicted in art) Art had elongated figures to show suffering El Greco “The Greek” used shades of yellow & green Mood reflects tensions created by religious upheavals of the Reformation
Baroque Replaced Mannerism Began in Italy in the 16th & 17th centuries Adopted by Catholic reform movement & shown in churches Depicted religious & spiritual feelings, search for power, & used in churches and palaces
