  1. A-Day: The Early Years

  2. A-Day is the annual agricultural show put on each spring since 1949 by the students of the college. It is the premiere event of the school year, eagerly anticipated by the campus community and the local community as well. The A-Day program consists of exhibits and demonstrations involving every major at the college. A-Days have featured exhibitions of poultry, livestock and farm machinery along with flower shows, milking contests and log sawing contests. All the work for A-Day, including planning and preparation, is done by the students.

  3. The 1949 best of show in the dairy cattle division.

  4. The first prize winner in the work horse division.

  5. Contestants in the beard growing contest, 1953.

  6. The log sawing contest.

  7. Preparing the dairy cattle for the show ring in 1956.

  8. The 1959 grand champion hog takes a victory lap.

  9. The farm machinery exhibition has been a part of A Day from the beginning.

  10. The hand milking contest provided lots of laughs. Those are coke bottles the contestants are holding, not milking pails.

  11. “Now, will you please stay out of the dirt until the judging is over!”

  12. A Day even had its own poultry queen!

  13. Testing out the ornamental horticulture exhibit.

  14. A Day isn’t just for four-legged creatures; the two-legged ones get in the act as well!

  15. It’s a pig’s life!

  16. Everyone has a first A Day.

  17. Bah for now! See you in the Spring!
