  1. Ancillary Dataat GES DISC DAAC Point of Contact: Carrie Phelps • Ancillary data is support data • input to create other datasets such as model assimilations • data which can be used to validate other datasets • mission field and test support data (24 x 7 data services available upon request)

  2. Ancillary Data Sources • Daily operational data transfer • NCEP: National Center for Environmental Prediction • NESDIS: National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service • Data is available on-line monthly, then permanently archived off-line at DAAC

  3. AIRS Ancillary Data • PREPQC: quality-controlled observations • packaged four times per day • Aviation Model (AVN) Forecasts • 03, 06, 09 hour forecasts • 1 x 1 degree global horizontal resolution • GEOS-DAS: Goddard Earth Observing System - Data Assimilation System • 36 vertical pressure levels (42 for ozone) • 1 x 1.25 degree global horizontal resolution

  4. Ancillary Visualization Tools • OASIS (Online AnalySIS) can currently be used to view PREPQC data • AVN Model forecast data viewing will soon be operational • GEOS-DAS data available after release • AIRS, MODIS • http://daac.gsfc.nasa.gov/atmodyn/online_analysis

  5. Ancillary Visualization Tools • The Online Gridded Data Viewer will also be used to display GEOS-DAS gridded data • May be useful as an evaluation product for AIRS gridded data (after data mining) • http://daac.gsfc.nasa.gov/atmodyn/online_analysis
