EXPORT ANY TIME RM Bridge ONE WAY EXPORT Modeler RM 2008 Geometry Definition Any Type of Analysis • Superstructure • Substructure • Stage by stage • Non-linear… • Axis. • Cross Sections. • Structural Units (Segments). • Preparation for Design Checks: • Stress Points • Temperature Points • Perimeter… • Tendon definition. • Loading preparation. • Load Combinations. • Construction Sequence. • Analysis. • Design Code Checks: • Fibre Stress • Ultimate Capacity • Shear Capacity…
Modeler GENERAL APPROACH • Definition of axis reflecting the position of a structure in 3D • Definition of cross-sections • Definition of segments by distributing cross-sections along the axis • Assignment of tables and formulas to vary dimensions over the length of the structure • Preparation of Reference points for design checks • Preparation of shapes for the geometry of tendons

The intersection of the Construction lines are used to compose plane elements, which define the Finite Element CS. 2.Cross Section • Construction lines are basis of CS. • FE element mesh. • Variables: e.g. height variation. • Parts: e.g. composite, grillage…
Segment points Slave reference line Axis CS Tables Segment Modeler GP DEFINITIONS Adapt the Cross Section variables along the axis. 3.Formulas & Tables Part of the system prepared to be exported to RM: Components are identified and logically grouped together. 4.Segment • Consists of segment points. • Assignment of CS to seg. Points. • Definition of beam elements & nodes. • Master segment: related to axis. • Slave segment: depending on geometry & position in other segments. • Bridge girders. • Piers. • Cross Beams. • Cables. 140.000 z 95.000 80.000 0.000 30.000 x 15.000 Modeler : Axis Axis – Plan View • Definitions in Plan View using straight lines, arcs and spirals
Modeler: Axis AXIS DEFINITON Axis – Elevation • Definition in Elevation using straight lines, arcs and parabolas
Bridge structure y z x Axis Modeler: Axis Axis – 3D • Combination of plan view & elevation view = 3D position of axis • All distances are measured along the axis defined in plan view
Axis CS Segment Axis Modeler: Section SEGMENTS • A Segment is a part of a structure prepared for the export to RM • Components are identified and logically grouped together • Discretisation of the structure along the defined axis → “Segment points” Plan View
Modeler to RM • Transfer Geometry to Analysis Module • Geometry gets transformed to an Structural Model. • Structural information: nodes, supports, segments • Design Calculations will be performed in RM
What is Generated? • A BrIM folder in your working directory • .ini files for the CADD Drawings • Layout.ini: level symbology, fonts • Master.ini : drawing elements • Templat.ini : drawings layout • Calculate the RM structural model
BrIM Folder • General Layout • 3D Model • 3D Tendon • Alignment • Axes • Horizontal Alignment • Vertical Alignment • Elevation view • Deck • Typical Sections • Tendon Groups • Segment Sections • Construction • Simulation • Camber Lines • Shop Drawings • Individual Segment Sections • Segments with Rebar quantities and location
General Layout • 3D Model : 3d model including the structural nodes used. • 3D Tendon: tendon layout • Alignment: 2D alignment data
Axes • Horizontal Alignment: 2D alignment with table of geometric elements. • Vertical Alignment: 2D alignment and profile tables. • Elevation view: 2D profile and table of geometric elements.
Deck • Typical Sections: structural segments in which the bridge was divided. • Segment Sections: typical cross sections of the segments used in the structural model. • Tendon Groups: tendon layout dgn files • Tendon Schemes: diagramatic representation of the tendon layouts along the bridge segments
Construction • Structural Model: structural model used, nodes, segments, abutments and piers. • Stage Construction drawings • Camber Lines
Shop Drawings • Individual Segment sections: segments design data in 2D and 3D. • Segment steel reinforcement.
CADD Standards • Based on seed files located in …\Bentley\RMBridge\rmv8i…\rmres\Frames\... • Setup of Title Box text is done in each “seed” file.
CADD Standards • Level symbology of the different elements is controlled in the layout.inifile (project specific if needed) or thru the RM Drawing Manager dialog box. Layout.ini
Drawing Composition • The Drawing Frames used (seed dgn files) are setup with “viewports” where the RM Bridge Draw Masters will be placed. • Viewports are defined by Microstation elements with an specific level symbology.
Drawing Composition • All Graphical output from RM Bridge can be accessed by the user, so he can decide later where to place them into their sheets. • Drawing Masters
Drawing Composition • Production drawings will be generated based on Template Drawings. • These templates indicate what and where the RM Bridge drawings will be placed into the sheets.
