19. Discussion 1: Does this speech inspire you? How does the speech make you feel?

20. Reference answer : After reading this speech, I have learned that one person should never bully or oppress another. It is against humanity. I believe it is mutual love and respect that makes we human beings different from animals. I feel very sorry for those African Americans in the 1950s and 1960s, even in the earlier years. They were treated like animals, not human beings. That’s really very horrible.

21. Reference answer : And, I admire Dr. King’s courage and efforts in the fight for equal civil rights. He is really one of the great men not only in the US. but also in the whole world. I admire his devotion to the welfare of others. He is a hero, a super man. I think we should take warning from what had happened in the US.

22. Reference answer : Everybody in Taiwan should love, trust, and respect one another no matter where their forefathers came from. I believe that if we unite, we will thrive. If we don’t, we will decline. Moreover, we should try to love and respect people from other countries or cultures. Before we can truly understand others, we must abandon all kinds of stereotypes and prejudice against them.

24. Reference answer : My dream is that one day the people of Taiwan will no longer discriminate against those of different ethnic origins. I hope Taiwan will become a melting pot where each ethnic group contributes, yet keeps its own identity. I hope people will bridge the gap that separates them by practicing goodwill with one another.
