Nested Mobile Network Issues: Hierarchical Mobile Router Advertisement<draft-cho-nemo-hmra-00.txt> 2004/3/1 Hosik Cho and Eun Kyoung Paik hscho@mmlab.snu.ac.kr
Mobile Router Advertisement • Egress interface • Receives RA from AR or parent-MR • SHOULD NOT send unsolicited RA • SHOULD NOT reply to RS on any egress interface • Ingress interface • Receives RS from MNNs • Broadcasts RA egress MR ingress
Nested NEMO • When a mobile network is getting attached to a larger mobile network • The aggregated hierarchy of mobile networks becomes a single nested mobile network.
RA Confliction problem AR MR1 How does MR2 know which RA is from its parent? MR2 Age field in RA message MR3
Hierarchical MRA • Based on the information of hierarchy • A field for age in RA message • Age is defined as decreasing value by the distance from AR.
HMRA (cont’d) • When a MR gets a new CoA • Re-initialize its age to zero • When the MR receives smaller or the same age of RA • Just ignore it • When the MR receives bigger age of RA • Set its age to smaller age than received age by one
Age = 7 Age = 7 Age = 7 Age = 7 Age = 6 Age = 6 Age = 0 Age = 6 Age = 0 Age = 5 Age = 5 Age = 0 Age = 0 Age = 4 Age = 0 Age = 0 HMRA (Cont’d) AR MR1 MR2 MR3
