  3. CHAMP Mission To Improve Awareness of Military Personnel and Archaeologists About Military Operations, Culture, and History in War Zones

CHAMP GOALS • Collaboration Between Military and Archaeologists • Understand Military Needs, Site Preservation, and Local Sensitivities • Participate in DOD Initiatives to Enhance Global Heritage Stewardship • Develop Procedures for Military Operations in Areas of Cultural Significance. •  Train Military Personnel on History, Culture, Sites, Artifacts, and Laws About Trafficking in Antiquities. • Train AIA and Military on Compliance With Treaties and Laws •  Develop Academic Exchange Programs to Attend Institutions and Develop Curricula

  5. Membership • CHAMP Formed at 2010 AIA Meeting • Includes Military Personnel, Archaeologists, Anthropologists, Lawyers, Teachers, and Students • Co-Chaired by Dr. Rose and Dr. Rush • Communication Through Ms. Childs • No Structured Organization • Casual Forum For Exchange of Information
