  2. Thailand... • Thailand,  formerly known as Siam , is a country located at the centre of Southeast Asia. It is bordered to the north by Burma and Laos,, to the south by the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia, and to the west by the Andaman Sea and the southern extremity of Burma.

  3. Total Area & Population • Thailand is the world's 51st-largest country in terms of total area, with an area of approximately 513,000 km (198,000 sq mi), and is the 20th-most-populous country, with around 64 million people. • The capital and largest city is Bangkok, which is Thailand's political, commercial, industrial and cultural hub. About 75% of the population is ethnically Thai, 14% is ofChinese origin, and 3% is ethnically Malay.

  4. Education in Thailand • Thailand enjoys a high level of literacy, and education is provided by a well-organized school system of kindergartens, primary, lower secondary and upper secondary schools, numerous vocational colleges, and universities.
