JEREMIAH’S MESSAGE • Conduct has consequences (v. 2). • These Kings, who had abused the trust bestowed upon them, would be punished for their evil.
JEREMIAH’S MESSAGE • True security is to be found in relationship with God (verses 3-4). • Just as God rescued His people from Egypt, so too will God rescue His people from exile.
JEREMIAH’S MESSAGE • “I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them ….”
JEREMIAH’S MESSAGE • “The days are coming … when I will raise up a descendant of King David … who will reign wisely … and do what is right in the land … and whose name will be indicative of his nature … the Lord Our Righteousness.”
JEREMIAH’S MESSAGE The different layers foreshadow the Kingdom which … (then) … was to come which … (now) … has come • God will raise up a King, Jesus • He will reign, wisely • If we live under His rule, we will be secure • We do not deserve to live in His Kingdom, but by grace he has made it possible.
