In Christ: Sufficiency • 3 Blessed be the God & Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with everyspiritualblessingin theheavenlyplacesinChrist. • Spiritual blessings make us completely sufficient (2 Cor 12:9; 2 Cor 3:5-6)
In Christ: Significant • 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy & without blame before Him in love • He chose Abraham’s family, He now chooses those in Christ (Jn 3:3-5; 1 Pet 1:22-23) • His choice is not independent of a personal response (Matt 11:28)
In Christ: Sons (children) • 5 having predestined us to adoptionas sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. • Adoption: to leave one family to take the name & characteristics of a new family • In Christ we left a dying family for one where there is life eternal (1 Cor 15:22)
