VERBS MUST MATCH THE SUBJECT OF THE SENTENCE – NOT THE CLOSEST NOUN • Number 1 – 10 in square 3 • Copy the sentences. • Put a line through any prep phrases. • Underline the subject once and choose the best verb to go with it by underlining it twice. • It might help to remember: • A single subject needs a plural verb • A plural subject needs a single verb
