Kent Private Sector HousingSub Group • Aim: • To share best practice in terms of private sector housing (including the management of Disabled Facilities Grants) and develop and promote joint working across Kent and Medway to improve the quality of private sector housing and achieve greater consistency in implementation of key initiatives and policies by local authorities and other providers. • Objectives: • To identify and share good practice; • To identify opportunities for district or county-wide projects; • To improve consistency of policies and practice across Kent; • To link in to other relevant strategies and groups; • To share relevant statistical information; • To identify training needs and delivery of joint training where possible; • To report back to the KHG on projects
Action Plan • Explore options for improving housing conditions within the private rented sector – green deal, discharge into the PRS, EU funding, loans for landlords to improve their properties • Landlord accreditation in all authorities across Kent – links with discharge into the PRS • Kent PSH sub Group and KHOG sub group to promote the use of tenancy training for tenants in the PRS • JPPB to promote with the Health and Wellbeing Board the importance of housing condition to the quality of life and health outcomes and establish stronger links and closer working relationships with health agencies – Housing “Mind the Gap”. Identify health related savings that can be achieved through housing improvement.
