Rules for Dialogue • New speaker = new line • Quotation marks “___” go around WHAT IS SAID • The end punctuation goes inside the quotation marks. • A comma always goes before a quotation. • “Run, Forrest, Run!” said Jenny. Forrest answered, “Okay, Jenny.”

Work with a partner to write a conversation between two characters from stories we have read. • Each person should use a different writing utensil AND write your name on your paper to turn in IN YOUR UTENSIL. I expect to see BOTH partners’ writing on the conversation. • Choose 2 characters – only 2 – from DIFFERENT stories we have read.
