  2. Origins of the DVD • Why – Consultation brought to light a gap in the education delivered by WYFRS for those with a learning disability • Where – Bradford, West Yorkshire • When – Autumn 2008 to December 2009 and continued use from the release date

  3. The Project • Who – Keighley and Craven People First, a voluntary organisation run by and for adults with learning disabilities were approached

  4. The Product • What and How - A DVD was produced through Resolution TV, approximately 12 mins long, including an optional quiz. • The script was designed and developed through workshops with the adults that take part in KC People First group • Actors volunteered from the KC People First Group and used their personal stories

  5. Feedback Councillor Dale Smith, Bradford Council’s executive member for social care, said: “The DVD contains some powerful messages about how people can stay safe when going about their normal daily routine.”

  6. Evaluation • Reached groups across WY and as far as Scotland and Norwich • 87% of the feedback suggested that the DVD was rated Good or Very Good • Most would recommend the DVD to friends, family or other organisations and colleagues • The KC People First group gained personal confidence and overcame challenges they had not previously faced • An older persons set of DVD’s was developed in a similar format to that of the Learning disabilities project due to the excellent feedback and success
