Calgary Immigration Question: Can Canadian citizenship be revoked? Answer: Yes. Canada is moving towards an immigration system that is primarily concerned with satisfying the needs of the Canadian labour market. At the same time, the immigration system is moving away from admitting immigrants that may create a financial burden for Canadian taxpayers. Such “troublesome” immigrants include elderly family members of immigrants, such as parents and grandparents, people with medical conditions, people with criminal records, and refugee claimants.
