  2. The normal duration of these research-based programs ranges from 2 to 5 years for the master degrees, and 3 to 8 years for the doctoral degree. Some programs offer two plans in which students are required to complete different number of course work credits. The total number of credits required for completion of a doctoral degree varies between 48 and 72, depending on previously earned degrees, and a Tuition and Fees Facilities Academic Semester and Application Period Graduate Requirements General Information Programs Research Areas Admission Requirements Scholarships and Financial Aids All programs operate on a bi-semester basis. Although there are normal application periods during October and December (with accurate time periods depending on institutions), applicants may submit their applications to the Ph.D. Program at Mahidol University at any time of the year. Computing facilities and internet connections, as well as libraries with a collection of books, journals, etc., in various areas of mathematical science are available in all campuses of the collaborating institutions to all students in the program. There are also connections between members of the consortium and outside institutions, both domestic and international, from which qualified students may benefit during their study in the program. Computer room Various research topics are offered by faculty and visiting faculty at the three collaborating institutions, aiming at an establishment of a center of excellence in mathematical science in ten years. Among these are Analysis, Algebra, Geometry, Mathematical Modelling, Kinetic Systems, Differential Equations, Applied Statistics, Computational Physics, Computational Mathematics, Numerical Methods and Computer Applications, Experimental Designs, Time Series Analysis, Operations Research and Optimal Control. This wide range of research areas guarantees production of qualified research-capable The tuition rate is 6,000--9,000 baht per credit for international programs and 300-900 baht per credits for non-international programs. The prospective student should contact the program of interest for accurate tuition cost. Full and partial scholarships, as well as teaching and research assistantships are available for highly qualified candidates. Several faculty members of the consortium hold the Thailand Research Fund's Royal Golden Jubilee Scholarships and other types of scholarships which can be granted to high quality students. They have also established agreements at different levels with foreign institutes to which several of the students in the consortium's programs have been sent to obtain research experience. Inquiries regarding scholarships The Development Program for the Postgraduate Studies in Mathematical Science offers four graduate programs in which students can choose to specialize in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Computational Mathematics or Mathematical Physics. Each of these leads to one of the degrees of Master of Science in Mathematics, Master of Science in Applied Mathematics or Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics. Although only Mahidol University offers international programs at present, the consortium commits itself to adopt international Students are subject to the graduation requirements of their respective institution of membership. Most programs demand that their students satisfy, beside minimum credits earned and GPA requirement, the language requirement and the requirement of international publication of their Tel: 662-201-5340, 662-644-5419. Founded in 2001 under the Ministry of University Affairs' Higher Education Development Project, the Development Program for the Postgraduate Studies in Mathematical Science is an educational and research consortium aiming at a leap in the development of the graduate study in mathematical science by providing leading-quality programs in the subject. master degree between 38 and 44. The consortium is led by Mahidol University, with Thammasat University and King Mongkut's Institute of Technology North Bangkok as consortium partners. Before the presence of the collaboration, each of the three institutions has operated its own mathematical science programs Applicants are subject to their corresponding target institution's admission requirements. Basically, applicants for the programs must hold a first degree in science or engineering with commensurate credits in mathematics subjects and satisfactorily high GPA. Applicants are encouraged to consult with their would-be supervisors for an appropriate thesis topics before applying, so that the students, once accepted, are closely guided throughout their program of study. A good command of English is also required in independently. Mahidol University started its Master of Science Program in Applied Mathematics in 1974 and made it an international program in 1996. In 1999 the Doctor of Philosophy Program inMathematics(International Program) was established there. The Master's Degree Program in Applied Statistics and the Master of Science Program in Mathematics have been offered at Thammasat University since 1987 and 2002, respectively.King Mongkut's Institute of Technology North Bangkok Library most programs. has run its Master of Science Program in Applied Mathematics since 2000. Independent operation in various institutions is a waste of resources and prevents fast development. A consortium was therefore established, with resource-sharing concept as its strategy to achieve its ultimate goal. Students in each of the consortium members have an opportunity to utilize human and equipment resources in other collaborating institutions. graduates. should be made to the program staff. mode of operation for all its graduate programs within five years. research work.
