  1. US Import Data For Competitiveness Analysis

  2. US import data is an Excel file containing detailed information about all import transactions took place within the US during the year. It assists in tracking every transaction of various high importers in this industry. Import data are generated for different types of goods imported into the country such as automobiles, machinery, petroleum, etc. Most important data related to all types of import are collected and recorded by the customs department. It helps them in improving their overall management and prevents complexities from occurring at a later stage.

  3. All US import data consist of the name of the importer, his address, description and value, destination of import, reason for import, the value of each import item and details about each product. The data are usually classified according to whether the merchandise is produced in the country or imported from other countries. So, all information on import of items which are not produced in US is also reflected in these lists. The data on imported articles are included in the data on commerce imports, on the country of origin, and finally on the items that are produced or manufactured in the US and are imported into another country. On an average, all the US import data are inclusive of the following data on merchandise imported into the country: personal and furniture goods, manufactured goods, durable material goods, machinery and equipment, transportation equipment, and chemicals.

  4. The impact of imports on any type of Merchandise If a US citizen decides to purchase any type of merchandise from overseas, he first performs an inquiry regarding US import data and product descriptions. This is followed by research in the library for required documentation. The most essential step in searching for US import statistics is to collect information regarding the types of merchandise that are commonly or traditionally imported into the country. Based on this information, the importer can plan out the quantity of the goods that he would like to import. Some of the commonly transported goods are: food, automobiles, freighted luggage, cargoes, machinery, electrical, construction materials, and chemicals. US import data on importation of shipments of passenger automobiles is readily available from the US Department of Transportation’s web site. The data are grouped according to the originating country and destination as indicated in the table of contents. According to the table of contents, the four types of passenger automobiles are: domestic, import/export, non-importers’ goods, and freight.

  5. How the US import data on merchandise sent to the US? US import data on merchandise sent to the US by Canadian importers are likewise included in the US import statistics. The source of these goods are listed according to the source of the export. The most common categories of shipments to the US are: motor vehicles, fuels, aircraft, non-ferrous metals, machinery, and goods falling under the category of food. The most important aspect about these goods is that the products must pass through the customs inspection before leaving the port of origin in Canada. US import data on imports and exports of agricultural produce are compiled and published by the USDA. The data on agriculture covers the production, marketing, and consumption of dairy, vegetables, fruits, poultry, and fish. Data on the other aspects of agriculture are published by the department of commerce. The USDA publishes the US import statistics for the year of June of each year.

  6. Other than these, the US department of commerce, together with state and local government agencies, the United States mint, the United States customs, and other cooperating federal agencies, compile and publish import statistics on goods coming into the country from foreign countries. The sources of data on these imports are not comprehensible in a general way. Hence the compilation of data on US import data for the United States, particularly for the current year or the forecast for the next is difficult. The United States Department of Commerce does however undertake statistical compilation of data on the US import partners as part of its efforts to improve the performance of the United States economy. To access the genuine US import data one can log in to websites like importkey.com.
