  1. Inquiry Processes at Te Pahu School Observable changes

  2. Planning is becoming more of a collaborative exercise • We are learning to look for and plan for connections between classes / whole school / within a topic or idea eg Recycling

  3. Frequent professional discussions in • Staff meetings • Syndicate meetings • Management meetings • BOT meetings • ‘Discretionary time’ • Student / parent / teacher conferences • Parent survey

  4. Our planning, teaching, assessment and reporting processes have needed review to represent the changes we are making in learning and teaching • Onus on self assessment • Student lead conferences • Our survey showed high level of acceptance but the need for a parent ‘education’ evening

  5. MOE Targets are related to student self assessment using criteria (WALT / HWIK, Rubric, Learning Intention, Matrix, ….) The common theme is that the student is being made aware of what success / quality learning looks like

  6. We reviewed our budget and ‘reclaimed’ finances (Along with a grant) so that we could purchase a data projector to be mounted in each classroom

  7. Professional development has been focussed as a ‘whole school’ focus. • We are all attending ulearnz • There is a shared enthusiasm for PD that builds on our journey (Pam Hook on Questioning, Georgette Jenson on Rubrics

  8. Our task now is to continue to explore the possibilities of using inquiry processes in meaningful ways in student / teacher learning and come to some agreed understanding of a process from Y1 to Y8. ie To develop “From the New Zealand Curriculum to School Curriculum”
