Blog 1: Incarich.com Eczema Diet- Which Foods to Avoid and Which Ones to Include Eczema, also known as atropic dermatitis, is a common skin condition that is usually characterized by the appearance of dry, itchy patches on the skin of the affected individuals. Although it is not exactly life threatening, eczema is still considered a serious condition because it can make life quite miserable for the people that it infects. The exact causes of the condition are not known but it is believed to be a result of inflammation caused by the consumption of certain types of foods. To get a better picture, try to think of the condition as an allergic reaction to certain types of foods which cause the skin to flare up. These foods are known as trigger foods and they are the ones that should be avoided if you want to keep the condition in check. The best way to know which foods to avoid in order to control the symptoms associated with eczema, many health experts recommend going on an elimination diet. The basic principle is to add different groups that you suspect could flare up the eczema to your diet one at a time and observe the reaction for a period of 4-6 weeks. If the symptoms get worse when you take the food then you know that you need to avoid it. The main culprit foods that are usually associated with the flaring up of eczema and which should be avoided include; Dairy milk Wheat or gluten Citrus fruits Eggs Tomatoes Soy Some spices such as cinnamon, cloves and vanilla. The best foods to include in your diet are foods that are associated with anti-inflammatory properties. They include; Fatty fish Foods rich in quercetin e.g. blueberries, apples, broccoli, cherries, kale and spinach Probiotic foods such as yogurt, miso soup, soft cheese and sourdough bread. Organic food supplements- supplements made from organic foods such as the supplements from Incarich, also have special qualities that can help reduce the symptoms of eczema.
