History of University May 2009 • Established in 1919 with 5 member schools. • At present the University of Ljubljana consists of: • 23 faculties • and 3 arts academies. • We are a comprehensive, traditional, research oriented university with 42.000 students, 5.920 employees and an annual budget of 300 Million Euros. 2 01/24/08

  5. Researchers • 284 research groups with 2.930 registered researchers. • Participation in 142 national research programs and following research projects: • 103 basic • 103 applicative • 29 post-doc projects • 204 targeted research programs (CRP) • and 7 technological platforms. 01/24/08

New study programms • UL managed to renew 254 study programs on all three Bologna levels, which is twice the amount than all other Slovenian universities together. • Well over 200 expert reviewers from Slovenian and abroad (Austria, Sweden, USA, GB, Croatia, Italy and many more) participated in evaluating proposed new programs in 2008. 01/24/08

  10. Interdisciplinary doctoral studies • Reduction of well over 100 PhD programmes to just under 20 3rd Level study programmes. • Introducing university level interdisciplinary programmes (e.g. Biomedicine, Environmental management) • Establishment of University Doctoral School. 01/24/08

Quality • Successful external quality assurance evaluation by the EUA. • Implementation of a self-evaluation protocol with 51 quality indicators. • Public tenders for all teaching positions. • Revision of the teacher evaluation poll for students. • The launch of a comprehensive online Digial Library (DiKUL). 01/24/08
