Plot Elements Climax -Moment of highest tenstion Rising Action -the conflict is propelled by drama and suspense Falling Action Inciting Action -Moment that introduces conflict and begins the story Denoument Resolution -conflict is resolved Exposition -meet characters -given background
Every story has what? • CHARACTERS— • Are our characters endearing? Do we relate to them? Do we want to know what is going to happen to them? • What motivates our characters? Who are they? • Protagonist • Antagonist • Supporting Characters
Every Story has what? • CONFLICT -The problem, tension and issue to be resolved throughout the story. • What is the problem? • Internal? • Does the character have a decision to make or issue to resolve within themselves? • External? • Man vs. man • Man vs. Society • Man vs. Nature
Writer’s Toolbox • What tools does the author use to propel his story? • FLASHBACK- going back to an event previous to the focused plot line • FORESHADOWING- hints or clues to events to come in the plot line
