  3. Tell the story. Ask questions: (a) What was on a leaf? (b) What came out of the egg? (c) What did he do? Why? (d) What did he eat? (e) What happened to the caterpillar? (f) How long did he stay in the cocoon? (g) What happened to him?

  4. Let’s arrange these pictures. Tell the story in your own words. This can be done individually, in pairs or groups. Closure Do you like the story?

  12. Story Chain Give groups sentence strips. Groups read sentences in sequence. (Teacher picks a group to start the story chain. The first group to identify the second sentence reads the sentence aloud. The chain continues till the whole story is read.)

  19. Set Induction Look at the caterpillar. Let’s do. You will need: - coloured paper/manila cardboard - colour pencils/markers - puncher - rubber band

  20. In groups, organise pupils to either read the story or role-play the story. Pupils can use the caterpillar they have created.

  21. Pupils create a daily journal. Pupils may use an accordion or concertina book.
