STAGES OF THE AD THREE MAIN STAGES THE WORST • MILD STAGE = a person have memory loss and small changes in their personality. • MODERATE AD = memory loss and confusion become more obvious. Trouble understanding ,organizing, planning, and following directions. • SEVERE ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE = last stage of Alzheimer ‘s and ends in the death of the person. • People need help at all times. • Not able to walk or sit. • Not able to talk, and not recognize family members. • Trouble swallowing and refuse to eat.
keeping the person with AD safe Examples Things that made you safe at home. • If they turned the oven or let the hot water run. • How to use the phone in a emergency. • To stay away from dangerous things around the house. • Supplied their medicine. • Made changes to cover your family needs around the house • Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in or near the kitchen and all rooms. • Phone numbers ready = ambulance, poison control, doctors, hospital • Safety knobs on the stove and a shut off switch. • Child proof plugs and doors and handles.
