  2. Santiago’s father Santiago had a dream to travel despite his father wanting him to be a priest . His father gave him his benediction

  3. The Gypsy The gypsy told Santiago of his journey . She gave him her wisdom as far as where to go. If he hadn't of seen her ,he wouldn’t have known where to began.

  4. Melkisadek Melkisadek gave Santiago rocks so that when on his journey, he would be able to read omens.

  5. The crystal merchant The crystal merchant gave Santiago a job so that he could start his journey. He even let him get half of the profit made in the shop.

  6. Fatima She gave Santiago her love He didn’t expect to receive such love from a beautiful girl.

  7. The alchemist The alchemist gave Santiago wisdom to further his journey and the information was useful.

  8. The guy in the prison Even though he beat Santiago up , he gave Santiago wisdom and let him know that he was there in his predicament before.

  9. How giving connects to alchemy I think the theme of giving relates because in order to know how to turn led into gold you would most likely have to taught. To teach someone something of that significance would have to require giving a lot of time.
