Prevention personnel: the city contributes • Lijnspotters: community guards exclusively deployed on public transport vehicles • 50% of personnel cost provided by De Lijn (PT) and 100% of working costs • Deployment based on the security monitoring system: difficult neighbourhoods are frequented more often • Main tasks: • guide/help travellers • negotiate/assist in case of problems • Check order on vehicles
More city contribution: schoolspotters • Youngsters employed by the city / municipality • 18 – 26 years • No diploma of secondary school • Flemish government encourages cities by funding the project • Main tasks: • Presence in school areas • Presence at stops De Lijn with a high density of scholars • Maintaining contacts with scholars, teachers, schools in general
Inspiring mutual respect: Trammelant! • Decrease of feelings of unsafety • Supporting preventive actions: intervene before problems grow • General satisfaction of all stakeholders using public transportation • Aim: 14 – 16 year-olds • No pedantic sermons dialogues and understanding
