  2. cryptic • –adjective Also, cryp·ti·cal. 1. mysterious in meaning; puzzling; ambiguous: a cryptic message. • 2. abrupt; terse; short: a cryptic note.

  3. dissent • verb (used without object) 1. to differ in sentiment or opinion, especially from the majority; withhold assent; disagree (often followed by from ): Two of the justices dissented from the majority decision. • 2. to disagree with the methods, goals, etc., of a political party or government; take an opposing view.

  4. collusion • noun 1. a secret agreement, especially for fraudulent or treacherous purposes; conspiracy: Some of his employees were acting in collusion to rob him. • 2. Law . a secret understanding between two or more persons to gain something illegally, to defraud another of his or her rights, or to appear as adversaries though in agreement: collusion of husband and wife to obtain a divorce.

  7. connoisseur • –noun 1. a person who is especially competent to pass critical judgments in an art, particularly one of the fine arts, or in matters of taste: a connoisseur of modern art. • 2. a discerning judge of the best in any field: a connoisseur of horses.

  8. duplicity • –noun, plural -ties for 1. 1. deceitfulness in speech or conduct; speaking or acting in two different ways concerning the same matter with intent to deceive; double-dealing.

  9. emaciate • –verb (used with object), -at·ed, -at·ing. to make abnormally lean or thin by a gradual wasting away of flesh.

  10. disingenuous • adjective lacking in frankness, candor, or sincerity; falsely or hypocritically ingenuous; insincere: Her excuse was rather disingenuous.
