Drawer Runner Classification Drawer runner classification rules The type of runner is determined by the design of the running elements. Guide rails: Plastic rails act as gliding surfaces that support the weight of drawers and their contents. Roller-guided drawer runners: The running elements are rollers. The type of roller varies from friction bearing mounted nylon rollers to ball bearing mounted nylon rollers, ball bearing mounted nylon-coated steel rollers and silent moving rollers. Ball guided runners: Steel or plastic balls in ball cages are used as the running elements. Concealed dynamic runners: Rollers in running gear are used as the running elements.
Drawer Runner Classification Drawer runner terminology • Load bearing capacity • The maximum load per runner pair. It’s a function of shape, metal thickness and length. Rated using a 18”(450mm) drawer runner. • Drawer runner length • The longest dimension of a fully colosed runner • Half extension: runner opens partially, approxiamately ¾ runner length • Full extension: runner opens the same length as the runner length • Overtravel: provide an extra extension beyond the normal extension of a full extension length • Self-closing: drawer automatically closed approximately 50mm out from the front as it is being closed
Drawer Runner Classification Loading force: LB 1LB=0.45kg • 50 LB 22.5kg • 75 LB 34kg • 100 LB 45kg • 130 LB 59kg • 150 LB 68kg • 180 LB 81.5kg • 200 LB 91kg
