New Analysis of Open Clusters Using CCD Photometry Kayla Young
Future Studies • Add more Open Clusters to compare more ages and absolute magnitude. • Using a CCD Imager and B and V filters take images of clusters, instead of downloading them. • Use better software, to get a deeper analysis of a cluster.
Conclusion • The data supported the initial null hypothesis that the age of the open clusters are directly correlated with the absolute magnitude. This was proven because the youngest cluster NGC 1094 had the strongest absolute magnitude and the oldest cluster NGC 104 had the weakest absolute magnitude.
Discussion • Many of the absolute magnitudes in the cluster NGC 104 were extremely weak, and many of the absolute magnitude sin the cluster NGC 6694 were very strong.
