  5. Issues faced by the industry Over-Inspection of Ships – Number & Time No faith in the SIRE system – by their own members. Increasing costs of ship-inspections Availability of inspectors Cancellation of inspections Officer Matrix Requirements

  6. The Costs! Increasing for both CDI and SIRE Actual costs increasing and also due to increased number of inspections.

  8. What the Vetting Committee does… Conditions of Class – working with Class Societies and Oil Majors – Increase awareness and transparency. Education - Vetting inspection guidance for the seafarer’s (end 2013) Guidance to members – The INTERTANKO Vetting Guide – 10th Ed. Terminal Vetting Database – Let’s Rate the Terminals! Vetting and Port State Control Inspector Feedback Forms. Benchmarking Databases. Detention statistics – Monitoring the performance of different MoU’s - Increasing transparency. Officer’s Matrix – Harmonisation of the requirements is the key Incident close-out – working with OCIMF to ensure increased efficiency and timely closeouts.

Work with Port State control Participation on Inspector training programmes. Feedback on inspector behaviour Guidance and assistance to members on individual vetting issues. Seminars – two per year for members and one every two years for seafarers
