  1. Kloe plans for 500 pb-1 Since now up to mid/end 2003 (before restart of data taking) elements for a discussion G. Capon 11-Oct-2002

  2. Items list • 2002 milestones for GR1 • analyse 2001 data for results : • produce some (preliminary) results with full 2001+2002 statistics • produce results on hot/advertised topics : sigma-hadronic, Vus, …. • understand background effects on various analysises • (think to next data taking, also to Dafne2 at high luminosity) • Measure F branching ratios ( K+K-, KSKL, r p, h g ) and sF • showuse of dr. ch. ADCin some analysises • give a measurement of e’/e at 10-3 precision KS p e n F  r p F P,S + g KS p+p-/KSp0p0 KL p0p0, p+p- sigma-hadr K+ m+ n/K+p+p0 Preliminary

  3. Tasks and Options finish DST production for each physics stream WHICH DATA SAMPLE ? as a general rule full 2001+2002 statistics should be used ( analysis is faster now with DST) however some analyses could not want to use full statistics because : (AND increase of data does not help to reduce syst) • the analysis is systematic limited • 2002 sample has less background • time constraint to reach a result for a presentation • different data taking conditions (cosmic veto  T3 filter)

  4. if full stat is used by everybody it would be convenient to define a data set common to all streams (with associated L at 1% precision) • Denig  Nguyen • all streams will be equally affected by machine backgd and one could have a unique MC simulation with background levels properly weighted • to this corresponds the proposal to have a single very large (500 M evts) MC generation of Phi -->all • OR define two different data sets for 2001 and 2002 respectively • Preliminary studies of machine background effects : • KSp+p-/KSp0p0 appears constant vs endcap hot rate • also a0g2C 5g and h’2C 3g seem unaffected by machine background

  5. offline software • Datarec issues : • Produce DST for charged kaon stream (  1 month) • ad-hoc momentum corrections for charge asymmetry (F  r p ) ? • dr. ch. ADC analysis • MonteCarlo issues : • Define a DST format for MC events(banks for MC truth) • add different background levels to generated events • calorim thresholds simulation (available but not standard) • New generators ( gg  p+p-, gg  m+m-……..) • …… • improve description of geometry, materials, wires sagitta, resolution tails • drift chamber ADC simulation , pion/kaon interactions in calorimeter • Analysis tools : direct use of ROOT (no n-tuples) ??

  6. Hardware resources New hardware to be purchased (delivered by end year ??) : tape library drives upgrade : 40GB  60 GB (per cassette) 400 cassettes 3 TeraBytes of disk space (order to be sent) CPU resources seem adequate (?) if no reprocessing is needed Disk space : now could be limited next 3 Tbytes ordered should made life reasonable Tape library : compactification of  5100 cassettes is a big job (1-2 months…?)

  7. Offline computing resources MC & DST PRODUCTION 32 Sun CPU’s IBM 7026-B80 4-way 375 MHz Sun Enterprise 450 4-way 400 MHz RECONSTRUCTION 84 IBM CPU’s ANALYSIS 8 Sun + 8 IBM CPU’s Tape/disk servers • Local online disks: 1.4 TB • Data acquisition • Calibration work • afs cell: 2.0 TB • User areas • Analysis/working groups • Managed disk space: 3.0 TB • 1.2 TB: Input/output staging • Reconstruction • MC/DST production • 1.4 TB: Cache for data on tape • DST’s maintained on disk • Tape library: 220 TB • 5500 40GB slots • 12 Magstar drives • 14 MB/sec each • Planned upgrade to 60GB/cassette

  8. Organization issues • coordination :avoid duplication of work (etrigger, evtx, MC samples,…) • Set priorities : ?? • Work follow-up: • WG meetings : 1-2 per month • WG conveners and referees should follow closely the analysis • (push for completion, react if man power is lacking) • each analysis should produce a memo : • only one, not too long or time expensive (less 20 pages) • give enough details to allow a critical evaluation of the analysis • if analysis approved : memo --> kloe note • draft of publication paper can be prepared in the same time

  9. Next conferences • new topics (different from 2001 ones) should be presented : • Aks, shadr, interferf+regen, K0 mass,KLgg, G(Fee,mm) ……. • and significant upgrades of published analyses • KS p e n ; KSp+p-/KS  p0p0 (going on) each single B.R. • F  f0 g (syst limited ?) ; F  a0 g • F  h g, h’ g (including 2c 7g) • Winter conferences (LaThuile, Moriond) • Aks, interferf+regen, K0 mass, KLgg • final result on F r p (2000 data) • preliminary shadr at 2% precision ? , G(Fee,mm) • Summer conferences • branching ratio’s : KSp+p- , p0p0 , K+  p+ p0, m+ n, p+p0 p0 • Final full stat results on shadr ? • h decays, we must ask a presentation and specify the content

  10. Summary of analyses - 2002 milestones
