The Big 4Areas of Focus for FY2011 Eliminate the knowing and doing gap first. “The answer is always in the room…” Deploy common assessments frequently and analyze the data to identify students who need additional time and support for learning, discover strengths and weaknesses in individual and collective teaching practice and measure progress toward accomplishing team goals. Act on your evidence! Develop plans for data collection, intervention and improving student achievement in math and literacy. Celebrate our success.
This will be hard work, but working together we can figure it out!
Systems Perspective “All organizations are perfectly aligned to get the results they are currently getting. If people in the organization knew what to do to resolve the problem, they would do it, so it is likely to be a matter of not having the knowledge, (tool) or skill to create the needed change.” Charting Your Course Conyers and Ewy

Plans for success at DVMS • Action steps: • From our Grades and Assessments we need to determine the why? Won’tsvsCan’ts • We need to then collaboratively determine and deploy strategies to assist the Won’ts and Can’ts • Can’ts strategic planners are Math/LA/SPED/EL • craft knowledge and intervention strategies • Won’ts strategic planners are SS/Sci/Expl/PE and Counselors - relationship building, rewards and responsibilities
